I don't know if I have mentioned this in the past, but last year in the fall I went through the trouble of updating the broken CPVC waterline that came into the house.   Within a week someone had broken in and stolen every bit of pipe that I installed.  Even the PEX!  I think this was the point where I said "f" it and turned off all the work.   I had finally gotten to the point of putting things back together and to have someone destroy the work I had done was disheartening.

So fast forward to today.  We are back to getting the masons back out to the job site to start with the block for both additions and the DADU.  They will need water for the mortar.  So I need to fix what was stolen from me.

Originally, I had just planned on putting a PEX adapter on the copper and run PEX for everything.  But I have read in several places where chemicals in city water can cause PEX to degrade over time.  Not something I wanted to face.

So I am going to run copper to my water filtration system and then PEX through the rest of the house.   I'm trying not to be overly paranoid, but it's almost a nightmare to think about someone going and stealing 10 feet of copper pipe.  I've done my best to hide it this time around, hopefully it'll get left alone until we can seal the house back up.

Cameras going up on Sunday.   At least next time I'll see if someone is stealing from me and I can sprint over there.
